Pilot Instructor – Paul Rowbotham

I have been flying for 33 years and have held an instructors rating for over 30 years. During those 33 years I have flown over 50 types of aeroplane as diverse as the DH82A Tiger Moth to the B747-400, accumulating a total of 19,000 flying hours.

I am still as enthusiastic about flying as the day I started, and firmly believe that flying should be fun. My aim is to make every flight as enjoyable as possible for my students, and for them to gain the maximum from every flight.

The Airfield

Firefly operates out of Full Sutton airfield to the east of York.
Full Sutton is a small licensed grass airfield with no surrounding controlled airspace, so no wasted transit time, and short taxi times maximising your time in the air.

This coupled with the great climb rate of the Extra300L means that it can be more cost effective than a lower performance aircraft.
